Western Cape Government College Applications Still Open for 2026
Applications are still open for the Western Cape Government College of Emergency Care. Apply before 14 August…
National Treasury Bursary 2027 applications are now open. Apply for funding towards Accounting, Economics, Finance and Law qualifications before the closing date.
The National Treasury created this bursary to help develop highly skilled graduates in fields that are critical to South Africa's public finance and economic development. Rather than funding a wide range of qualifications, the programme focuses on areas that support the country's financial management, budgeting and policy development.
The bursary targets students who are already progressing well academically and are entering the later stages of their studies, making it an excellent option for those who need financial assistance to complete their qualification.
Unlike bursaries that support dozens of qualifications, the National Treasury focuses on a small number of priority fields linked to public finance and government.
These include:
Students completing qualifications such as BCom Accounting or related accounting programmes are encouraged to apply. Graduates in this field play an important role in financial reporting, auditing and public sector financial management.
If you're studying Economics, this bursary could be a great fit. Economists help government understand inflation, employment, taxation and economic growth, making them an important part of national policy development.
Students pursuing Finance qualifications are also eligible. These programmes prepare graduates for careers in financial planning, budgeting, investment analysis and public finance.
The National Treasury also supports students studying Law, particularly those interested in legislation, procurement, governance and regulatory matters within the public sector.
If you're still deciding what to study, you may also find our guides on Highest Paying Careers in South Africa and What Can You Study With Pure Mathematics in South Africa helpful, especially if you're considering careers in finance or economics.
Students are expected to maintain a strong academic record throughout the duration of the bursary. The funding must be used for registration, tuition, textbooks, and accommodation as specified in the bursary agreement.
